In response to the growing trend in alcohol consumption, Colchester YMCA and Essex Young People's Drugs & Alcohol Service are launching a new project targetting 11 to 21 year olds, funded by Comic Relief.

Two outreach alcohol workers will be employed to deliver specific alcohol education sessions in a range of different settings such as alternative education groups, housing projects, schools and youth groups using a variety of methods. These workers will be employed by Colchester YMCA and managed by EYPDAS to benefit from their experience and specialist knowledge of alcohol reduction work. The workers will actively target children and young people and staff working with them to raise awareness, reduce risks and set up referral pathways to more intensive support. The workers will also deliver a parenting programme to support families with the aim of establishing a peer led support group.
